CDI Expands Technical Team

Experiencing Explosive Growth in the HVAC industry

John Schuetz and Kirk Kiel

Climate by Design International (CDI) is excited about our explosive growth and the expansion of our Technical Team.  We would like to welcome John Schuetz, Technical Program Manager, and Kirk Kiel, Manufacturing Engineering Manager to the CDI family.

Schuetz brings over 17 years of experience managing new product development projects and supporting production.

Kiel comes to CDI with over 20 years of continuous improvement manufacturing experience with a background in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

Pierre Menard, Director of Engineering commented, “Both John and Kirk bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of engineering combined with a customer-focused background, a passion for developing people, processes, and products. Climate by Design is doing amazing things for our customers and we get to work with a team of amazing production and engineering team members who solve challenging problems every day.”

“We are also growing our technical team through an apprenticeship program with local high school students in engineering and drafting,” stated Menard.  “These students are being exposed to a number of engineering career options and at the same time are helping us gain productivity. I am thankful to be part of a company that promotes family values. It is exciting to be a part of the explosive growth that CDI is experiencing.”

According to John Schuetz, “These are the experiences you can’t get in the classroom. CDI creates opportunities for open communication between departments, identifying and solving problems together. As a team, understanding the unique skill sets of co-workers is a reflection of one of CDI’s core values: Team Unity.”

“I have enjoyed supporting manufacturing in regards to engineering,” shared Kirk Kiel. “We have been able to apply what we are learning with custom units to enhance our more repetitive units. This has led to more opportunities for design manufacturability, variance reduction and error proofing as we move forward.”

Both John and Kirk are excited to share their experiences and knowledge as the CDI Family continues to delight our customers in these explosive markets.

Schuetz holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Northern Illinois. He also managed and defended a number of patents.

Kiel holds an AA degree in Mechanical Drafting from Albert Lea Technical College and a BS degree in Industrial Technology from Saint Mary’s University.
